{"id":2988,"date":"2024-01-29T10:39:02","date_gmt":"2024-01-29T10:39:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.epidemiologie.nl\/activities\/working-communities\/dutch-cancer-epidemiology-group-dceg\/"},"modified":"2024-06-26T07:55:24","modified_gmt":"2024-06-26T07:55:24","slug":"dceg","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.epidemiologie.nl\/en\/activities\/working-communities\/dceg\/","title":{"rendered":"Dutch Cancer Epidemiology Group (DCEG)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Dutch Cancer Epidemiology Group (DCEG)<\/h1>\n<div>Aim<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Uniting Cancer Epidemiologists, and join forces to stimulate interaction, increase mutual transparency in grant acquisition and local science policy, provide training, and facilitate peer-review and collaboration to improve (research into) cancer prevention, control and survivorship.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Objectives<\/div>\n<div>Research related<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>\n<p>Increase the number of successful grant applications through mutual review of draft applications.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<p>Stimulate transparency in grant acquisition and creation of national grant programs with common research aims without mutual competition (e.g. NWA, KWF).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Education related<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>\n<p>Facilitate inter-institutional internship programs for Epidemiology students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<p>Develop inventory of training needs and possibilities to connect with research groups to develop educational content or facilitate courses as guest lectures.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<p>Develop layman\u2019s knowledge modules for journalist and other stakeholders to increase distinction between fake and real news and improve knowledge dissemination.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Infrastructure related<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>\n<p>Position our community of epidemiologists working in the field of cancer research in the Netherlands and increase global visibility.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<p>Strengthen the network and community of Cancer Epidemiologists by inspiring each other through informal visitations of our institutes, excursions, (international) presentations, joined grant proposals and peer-review opportunities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<p>Exchange experiences with, for example, the use of certain registers, trusted third parties, foreign grant possibilities, as well as foreign partners.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<p>Represent the field of Cancer Epidemiology for policy advice, advocacy, media and funding agencies in the field of e.g. infrastructure and regulations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Chair<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>Prof. Dr. L.A.
