Characteristics teaching programme:
The postgraduate program in epidemiology at the University of Antwerp is a two-year half-day program and requires this commitment. It is aimed at students who already have a master's degree in a biomedical field, have some work experience and want to improve their skills and knowledge of epidemiology. The 60 ECTS postgraduate degree is a shortened version of the 120 ECTS master's in epidemiology and is integrated within the structure and expertise of this master's program. One of the main differences is that the postgraduate degree does not require writing a master's thesis. It also allows for a more customized program. Compared to the master's in epidemiology, the student can focus on a specific area of expertise, for example, epidemiology of infectious diseases or of non-communicable diseases, or environmental or genetic epidemiology. The program aims to teach the basic and advanced skills and competencies to design and conduct epidemiological research. You will also immediately learn to translate to practice and policy to improve the health of people and populations. The integration into the master of epidemiology also makes the postgraduate degree an international experience from the start. Indeed, the master's program welcomes students from around the world with support from a VLIR-UOS scholarship program. All classes are taught in English.
