Characteristics teaching programme:
The epidemiology program (minimum 69 EC) is embedded in the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) master's program (two years, 120 EC). There is much freedom of choice to design the BMS master's degree according to your own interests ("Design your own master"). The master BMS has 7 specializations (Epidemiology, Clinical human movement sciences, drug savety & toxicology, Health Technology Assessment, Immunology & host defense, medical neuroscience, molecular medicine) and 3 profiles (research, consultancy, communication). More than 70 Biomedical sciences courses are offered, and all students do at least 2 internships (with a total of 60 EC minimum). Because the full master's BMS is 120 EC, students are always educated more broadly than just in epidemiology. The epidemiology program includes 6 core courses (mandatory), as well as many electives. A minimum of 3 elective courses will be chosen from a list of 8 options. In addition, there are opportunities to fill free space with an epidemiological literature thesis, a second epidemiology internship, additional elective courses in epidemiology or courses in a related discipline (such as health technology assessment, health policy or health communication).
