The Department of Neurology of Erasmus MC has a vacancy for a PhD candidate: Research on outcome measures for patients with neuralgia, for 36 hours per week.

Job content
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) are two serious forms of nerve inflammation. Patients with this condition develop severe symptoms and neurological deficit. GBS and CIDP are partially treatable but the response to treatment is often insufficient. The research you will be part of focuses on developing and validating a specific set of patient-reported outcome measures and other outcome measures for these diseases in order to measure and improve the effect of treatment and care.

Work environment
The study will be conducted at Erasmus MC in close cooperation with the Kenniscentrum Meetinstrumenten (Kmin, Amsterdam UMC). Erasmus MC is the national expertise centre for the care and research of GBS and CIDP. Here, a multidisciplinary team of experts works diligently to develop better care for these patients. The Kmin is an internationally renowned research group for the development of patient-reported outcome measures.

Profile
You have completed the course in Medicine, Health Sciences, Psychology or a similar degree. Experience in scientific research is an advantage but not essential.
You have scientific interest in this project and the ambition to obtain a PhD.
You are a team player with very good social skills.
You have an eye for detail, you are strong analytically.
You have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

What we offer

A gross monthly salary depending on prior education. For a Researcher in
A gross monthly salary of up to € 3,196 (in the OIO scale) and up to € 1,000 applies to the training course.
4,615.- (scale 10) for a PhD candidate with a full-time working week of 36 hours.
Excellent secondary conditions, such as a 13th month paid out in November
and a personal travel budget.
A pension insurance with the ABP. We take approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution for
our account.
Special benefits, such as a physiotherapist and a bicycle mechanic. And there’s also
a sports club where you can get in shape after work.
All
terms of employment
are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for University Medical Centres.
