EPIDEMIOLOGIC RESEARCH AT DKFZ
INITERNATIONAL PHD PROGRAM
PHD POSITIONS IN CANCER RISK FACTORS AND PREVENTION
Do you want to help reduce the burden of cancer? At the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Germany’s largest biomedical research institute with its core site in Heidelberg, the research program “Cancer Risk Factors and Prevention” is dedicated to research in epidemiology, public health, digital prevention, biostatistics, behavioral science, and cancer survivorship.
Research activities are focused on:
• Large-scale epidemiologic studies and clinical trials on more effective cancer prevention and early detection, better prognosis and quality of
life of cancer patients, and on quality of medical care
• Large-scale epidemiologic studies on detection of risk factors, risk markers and prognostic factors of cancer and chronic diseases
• Integration of genome, proteome, imaging, experimental psychobiological and biomarker research into studies on the causes and
prevention of cancer as well as on cancer survivorship
• Implementation science research for cancer prevention, e.g. exploring/evaluating methods to promote the adoption and implementation of
evidence into policy and practice
• Biostatistical methods in cancer research, e.g. analysis of high dimensional data and design of clinical trials in personalized oncology
