The Experts:
Sander van Kuijk is an associate professor of clinical epidemiology at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Medical Technology Assessment (KEMTA) at Maastricht UMC+. He completed his MSc in Epidemiology in 2008 and obtained his PhD in 2013 on methodological issues surrounding the development and validation of clinical prediction models.

Sander is involved in many clinical research projects as a researcher and PhD co-supervisor. In addition, he teaches epidemiology and statistics courses. Together with Leonard Wee, he developed the Clinical Data Science module for the Epidemiology Master course at Maastricht University. As of last year, he is a member of the general board of the VvE.

 

Leonard Wee is a qualified clinical physicist in radiation oncology and an assistant professor of Clinical Data Science (CDS) at Maastricht University. The CDS research group is jointly supported by the Faculty of Health Medicine and Lifesciences, Maastricht University Medical Centre+, and MAASTRO (radiotherapy) Clinic.

Leonard has experience in radiotherapy clinics, the medical devices industry, and clinical implementation before moving to Maastricht in 2017 to focus exclusively on basic research.
Leonard holds a personal fellowship grant from Stichting Hanarth and is a work package lead for several large international projects funded by the EU and the Dutch NWO. He specializes in making FAIR data for federated machine learning/deep learning models. Together with Sander van Kuijk, he co-teaches the Data Science module for the Epidemiology Master course at Maastricht University.
